Proposition 39

October 2, 2012

With the Presidential election a little over a month away, the country has several heavy hitting topics on the forefront of their minds. Californians, including those at Yellow Cab, are becoming active participants in the debate touching on topics that are hitting close to home including schools, jobs, Proposition 39 and even clean energy.

Students are the future of tomorrow and their education is of the utmost importance. According the US Census Bureau, California has 100 percent enrollment of all those who are considered eligible students. While there are always things to improve within the education system this positive statistic is absolutely a noteworthy one. Teachers are able to instill in their pupils to not only to complete their elementary, middle and high school, but also to excel and further their education by attending a junior college or four-year university. If a spark is lit early enough in a child his or her drive might become instinctive. They will work as hard as possible to achieve the most in their later life.

These future adults will be looking for fulfilling jobs, yet another hot topic in California. Employers will have a more exceptional bunch of candidates to choose from, in turn making their businesses more successful. Companies have continued to bloom and blossom, even given the constraints of the current economy. The American dream is still alive and prospering thanks to the strength and courage of our countries citizens.

This election, voters must keep in mind to vote in favor of Proposition 39 to fix an unjust law. According to this proposition, companies are given tax incentives to locate out of the great state of California. Instead the “single-sales factor” method would be put into place. This would mean taxes would be based off the amount of sales conducted within the state. Business and revenue will never flourish with laws in place such as this one and something must be done on November 6.

Clean energy has always been and will always be a hot topic in California. Yellow Cab will continue to take the necessary steps to make improve the conditions. Our cars are incredibly energy efficient, as they should be, and when multiple passengers use the service emissions are obviously reduced. Yellow Cab is always on call whenever needed and have pride for our excellent service to customers and the environment.

Things do not change overnight, but cannot change at all without the voice of the voters. There is one and only opportunity to put your two-cents in and that is on November 6. Think about topics that you may be passionate about whether it be education or the environment. Make an effort to jump start change.
